Catholic Education

One of the most important choices parents make about their children is in regards to their education. A good education maximizes a child's chances for a fulfilling life, and the most impressionable and formative years are the elementary school years. In a Catholic School, Christian values are practiced and learned each and every day. Catholic schools teach to love God and neighbor without the roadblocks found in public schools. Students are courteous and respectful to adults and to each other. Community service is an integral component of a Catholic education.

In study after study, it has been proven that a Catholic education surpasses public education. There are numerous impressive facts about Catholic Education:

  1. 99.2% of students from Catholic high schools graduate, compared to 67% from public schools.
  2. 83% of Catholic high school graduates go to college, compared to 52% of public school graduates.
  3. Catholic school students from disadvantaged families show no corresponding academic deficiencies in math or verbal achievement, while similar students in public and other private schools show substantial academic deficiencies.
  4. Catholic school students surpass public school students in math, science, and reading in the three grade levels of the National Assessment of Educational Progress test of the federal government. In reading, Catholic schools scored 12.5% better.
  5. Minority students who graduate from Catholic high schools are three times more likely to earn a college degree than their counterparts in public school.
  6. Catholic school graduates of every ethnic background choose a pre-professional college curriculum twice as often as public school graduates.
  7. Since the 1990s, new Catholic schools have been opening at an average rate of 21 schools per year.
  8. There are currently 2.6 million Catholic school students in more than 8,000 Catholic schools nationwide.
