21st Annual Living Saint Projects: Friday, May 31, 2019
Each year, nearly 1,000 people from all over the state visit O'Hara for a self-guided, inspirational journey of the heroes of faith. The Annual Living Saints Presentation is a nationally recognized, award-winning project that has been held annually since 1998.
Every spring, each sixth grade student selects a saint as the subject of focused study for three months. They write about the country their saint lived in, study ancient cartographic techniques and create antique-looking country maps, write reports about their saint’s life, and study the medieval art of illuminated manuscript and the prayerful art of iconography. This year, we are integrating technology to help share the students' work and the saints' stories.
The Living Saints Presentation is an exceptional example of integrated curriculum, where students apply working knowledge across many subjects to create a significant and meaningful project.
Representing Saints and Blesseds from many continents, students in costume will share stories, dramatic artwork, and offer inspirational examples of faith, hope and charity.
