FAQs
Are campaign gifts tax deductible?
As a qualified 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, campaign gifts to O’Hara Catholic School are tax deductible. Donors with specific questions regarding tax deductibility should contact their professional tax advisors. What tax advantages exist for making a gift to the campaign? While cash gifts are deductible for those who qualify, two popular gift options can also provide donors with tax advantages: ● Gifts of highly appreciated securities (stock) may provide donors with additional tax savings by avoiding capital gains tax and qualifying for a charitable tax deduction. ● An individual age 70½ or older can transfer up to $100,000 from their IRA to the campaign and satisfy the required minimum annual distribution – without paying any taxes on the withdrawal. How can I participate? Can I pledge over time? Since our needs are urgent, donors are asked to complete their pledges within a three-year pledge period. The school will not take on any long-term debt to fund projects. Are there other ways I can contribute? Yes! Please click here to learn more about other ways to give to our campaign. |
